Sheering is a small village in the
north of the district. Bronze Age,
Iron Age and Roman remains have
all been found there. Matching
Green has an unusual 15th century
timber framed hall, the marriage
feast room, built for the poor people
of the village to hold their wedding
celebrations. In 1943 the U.S Army
built an airfield at Matching. Both
Sheering and the Matchings have
changed very little, remaining small
rural communities today. The local school is Sheering C of E Primary School.
